IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alfred Douglas
Brooks
January 4, 1962 – May 21, 2024
Alfred Douglas Brooks was born in Durham County, North Carolina on January 4, 1962 to Fred T. Brooks and Ida W. Brooks. He entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 21,2024 after an acute illness.
Alfred was a lifetime member of New Hope Granville Missionary Baptist Church, accepting Christ at a young age, being baptized by the late Rev. Harold Timberlake, Sr. He graduated from Northern High School in 1980. Alfred loved all kinds of sports. He was a great football player, earning a football scholarship to WSSU. He worked at Liggett & Meyers for many years in addition to other employers.
He had a special love and relationship with his grandchildren. Despite his physical condition, he could often be found babysitting and taking them for a ride on his scooter. He also had a playful relationship with many of his younger nieces/nephews.
Alfred was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Mae Wilkerson Brooks and grandparents (Elijah & Georgianna Wilkerson and Fred & Addie Mae Brooks). He leaves to mourn his three sons, Deamonte, Christian, Justin (and their mother, Valeda Brooks); three grandchildren, London, Landon, and Gianni; his father, Fred T. Brooks of Durham; three brothers, Jasper (Mary) of Raleigh ; Anthony and Jeffrey both of Durham; three sisters, Sheila Curtis of Durham, Shanta Brooks of Bunn and Felicia McGee (Craig) of Loveland, OH. He had 13 nieces and nephews and a caring friend Ms. Debra Bass. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Known as "Big Homie" to many of those who loved him, Alfred will be greatly missed.
