David Young Henderson was born October 1, 1933 in Vance County to the late Walter S. and Annie Lou Thornton Henderson, the oldest of five siblings. He transitioned on June 23, 2021 at the Brian Center in Durham, North Carolina at the age of 87.

He joined Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church at an early age.

David was educated in The Granville County Public School System and graduated from G.C. Hawley High School in the Class of 1951. He served in the US Army from November 1953- October 1955.

He addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Leola H. Spencer.

He leaves to cherish his memories a sister, Rosa H. Busby of Henderson, North Carolina; two brothers, Dorsey T. Henderson (Mildred) of Durham, North Carolina and Walter B. Henderson (Miriam) of Conyers, Georgia; three nieces, Carolyn, Tracie and Lisa: four nephews, LeRoy, Charles, (Chuck) Keith and Tommy and a host of other relatives.
