Mr. John Henry Scott was one of seven children born to the late Oliver and Sophie Bowden Scott on August 20, 1927. He was also preceded in death by his sister Katherine, and brothers Wilbert, Sylvester, Walter, and James.

John Henry attended Granville County Schools and later married Mattie Louise Rogers. To this union was born two children, London and John Earl. He was an expert at installing carpet and he enjoyed teaching this skill to others, especially his sons and grandsons. John Henry will be remembered for his kindness, thoughtfulness and his giving heart. He was a free spirit who lived life to the fullest. He had a charming and magnetic personality and a great sense of humor. He was loved by many.

His memory will be forever cherished by children, John Earl Scott (Patricia), London Tilley Adams (Joe), Marie Lockett Allen (Ervin) of Durham, NC; Jack McClain of Stem, NC; Rosalyn Marie Cozart (Bryant) of Elizabethtown, KY; his sister, Margaret Mangum (James) of Pennsauken, NJ; 13 grandchildren, 2 special nephews, William and Larry Rogers, special friend, Vernell Hayes and her extended family; and host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
