Leon Ragland, Jr.

Leon Ragland Jr, 66, was born in Vance County on June 29,1955 to the late Deacon Lee Ragland Sr. and Evangelist Mother Anna Rose Vass Ragland.  He departed from this life at Maria Parham Health on March 17, 2022.

Leon developed an exceptional learning ability early in his pre-school years and was able to read and write at the age of four years old. Leon loved sports. His love for sports was demonstrated in his elementary school years when he was able to recite major league baseball player teams, batting averages, and home runs whenever asked.

Leon attended Pinkston Street Elementary School, Henderson Junior High School, and Vance Senior High School where he graduated in June 1973.

Leon loved to travel on cruise ships to different vacation destinations, but one of the highlights of his life was attending a major league baseball double header game in Philadelphia, PA. between the Philadelphia Phillies and the San Francisco Giants.

He became a member of Little Zion Holy Church at a young age and later changed his membership to Holy Temple Holy Church where he served on the usher board.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his brother Elder William Michael Ragland Sr (Mary) of Henderson, NC.  Six nieces and nephews, Elder William Ragland Jr. (Johanna), Michelle Wright (Robert), Danielle Ragland, Maya Robinson, James Ragland, and Chad Barnett.  One uncle, Thomas Vass (Juanita) and host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
