Myrtle Ruth Allen was born June 23rd, 1930 to the late Fannie L. Smith (Royster, Skinner, Eaton) and John Randall Skinner born in Fuquay Varina. The Lord called her home peacefully on December 5th, 2021.
She was raised and educated in Granville County. She accepted Christ as her savoir at an early age. She joined Olive Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served in the Missionary Department and as a member of the Senior Choir. She retired from Murdoch Center in Buter, NC. Her life was fulfilled by taking care of others and being the original “Uber driver” for anyone who needed a ride.
Myrtle Allen was joined in marriage to the late Sherman Allen in 1948. Their Union created 6 children and 1 angel child. Sons: Sherman “Guy” Allen, Paterson, NJ; James (the angel child); Douglas “Duck” Allen (proceed in death), Rickey Allen, Myron Preston Allen, and Michael Troy Allen all of Oxford, NC. Daughter: Minister Sheryl Alston (James) of Durham, NC.
She had a sweet spirit and pure heart. Her favorite color is purple(royalty). She loved to travel, go fishing, work in her garden, watch sports (basketball, baseball, and football) and of course she loved a good fight, wrestling. Her favorite college basketball team is Duke. For baseball, she loved to watch the Durham Bulls play, and her favorite professional baseball team was the Atlanta Braves (they won the 2021 Championship for you). When it came to wrestling that was the academy awards to her and everything stops when John Cena and Rikishi hit the ring! Her adventures truly showed her personality and strength, being a true fighter all her life. She leaves her blessings of 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish one adopted brother, Larry Eaton of Oxford, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
